iPhone Fix: clear Google maps cache

[OUTDATED] See the comments below

Sometimes, when you use Maps application on your iPhone you can get some buffer/cache trouble when zoom or unzoom cached place (maps or satellite view)

if you are experiencing this, you can fix it deleting google maps cache on the iphone:

  • open your ssh client (i've used WinSCP): login and locate the directory /var/root/Library/Caches/MapTiles/
  • rename the cache file (MapTiles.sqlitedb) in something like MapTiles-old.sqlitedb
  • restart Maps application
worked for me

  1. The path is actually:

    /private/var/mobile/Library/Caches/MapTiles

And indeed removing the MapTiles.sqlitedb cleared up the corruption.
